Together with the members of ORSD, I am involved in supporting and acquiring funding for academic and research programs in the School of Science. ORSD will continue to work together with faculty and administrative staff so that we can support the activities of the School of Science from an interdisciplinary perspective. We aim to promote the school's research strategy and create an environment in which our researchers can focus on their research, rather than on research administration tasks.

Having carried out research in biological sciences for 20 years, I became a member of ORSD in May 2014. Since April 2019, I have also been involved in university-wide research promotion support work. I am very happy that I am able to support the cutting-edge research that is taking place at my old haunt, the School of Science. I will focus on creating an environment in which all scientists, including teachers, postdoctoral researchers, and students, can devote themselves to their research.

After graduating from university in the UK and completing my PhD in Switzerland, I moved to Japan in 2011 to do postdoctoral research in supramolecular chemistry. I then worked as a Senior Editor at an academic editing company before becoming a member of ORSD in June 2017. I aim to use my international experience to help create a global environment at UTokyo that meets the needs of Japanese and international students and researchers alike.

After doing research in nuclear physics as a postgraduate student, I became a science communicator at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) and then worked as a URA at ORSD and Chuo University. I became a member of ORSD in March 2022 with the aim of promoting collaboration between industry and academia. Drawing upon my experiences in science communication and research promotion, I intend to strengthen cooperation between society and the School of Science at the University of Tokyo.

I started working in ORSD in September 2019. The term “fundraising” is not so familiar in Japan. However, for universities to be highly evaluated and well supported by society today, we must contribute to society through research and education more than ever before. To this end, we will do our utmost to provide opportunities for society to become familiar with the university's policies and activities through organized fundraising.

After joining what was then the School of Science's International Liaison Office in May 2014, I started working in ORSD as an International Liaison Officer in April 2022. My goals are to further globalize the School of Science, as well as to help provide a secure environment where all our faculty, researchers, and students can focus on their work, by seeking out and tackling the various challenges that arise from increased international mobility in the academic world.

I enjoy communicating science to a wide range of audiences. During my PhD in Australia and postdoctoral position in the USA, I created multimedia and wrote articles to make science accessible to everyone. In October 2022, I became a member of ORSD. I aim to use my academic experience and communication skills to create and implement an international public relations strategy for the School of Science. I will write press releases to disseminate the research results of the school to local and international English media.
