Associate Professor Takuro Ideguchi receives the 2024 Masao Horiba Award

Associate Professor Takuro Ideguchi

Associate Professor Takuro Ideguchi of the Institute for Photon Science and Technology (IPST) has received the 2024 Masao Horiba Award. We would like to extend our sincere congratulations.

Professor Ideguchi was appointed as The University of Tokyo Excellent Young Researcher at the Institute for Photon Science and Technology in 2019 under the Young Researcher Development Support program of The University of Tokyo. His research specialty is the development of advanced optical measurement techniques and their applications, including ultrafast and high-resolution spectroscopic techniques, novel microscopy methods, and visualization techniques that make full use of these technologies. For example, he has achieved significant results in the observation of cellular phenomena, such as the measurement of intracellular thermal diffusion and temperature changes caused by heating, and obtained results that suggest new insights into the 105 gap issue, which is an unresolved problem in thermal biology. Furthermore, these techniques provide extremely powerful measurement and evaluation methods regarding environmental pollution, which is now a major social problem, and are a great tool for solving this issue. We are very pleased with this award in recognition of these pioneering research results.

We hope that Professor Ideguchi's future research will lead to further significant developments in a wide range of fields.
