Professor Robert E. Campbell Elected as an AAAS Fellow

Professor
Robert E. Campbell

Robert E. Campbell, professor in the Department of Chemistry, has been elected as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Founded in 1848, AAAS is a long-standing interdisciplinary organization dedicated to advancing science, engineering, and innovation worldwide for the benefit of humanity. The AAAS Fellows program, which began in 1874, consists of individuals who have distinguished themselves across disciplines in scientific research, education, and public outreach. Past AAAS Fellows have included Nobel laureates and famous scientists from around the world, including inventor Thomas Edison (1878) and the chemist and science historian Bun-ichi Tamamushi (1966).

Professor Campbell was elected as an AAAS Fellow because of his, "distinguished contributions to the field of biological molecular imaging, particularly for the development of red and near-infrared fluorescent genetically encoded biosensors of neural activity and cell signalling.”

We congratulate Professor Campbell for this recognition and look forward to his continued success. We strongly believe that this award will be an opportunity for him to continue to make significant contributions to the advancement of science around the world.
