I studied Neuroscience in the Department of Biology (Prof. Oka) and Systems biology under Professor Kuroda in the Department of Biological Sciences. After completing my PhD, I joined the Central Administration Bureau of a pharmaceutical company, where I was engaged in drug discovery research from a bioinformatics perspective. Currently, I am engaged in translational research in clinical development at a clinical development department. I would like to talk about the similarities and differences between research in academia and industry, as well as my experiences in pursuing a career as a "corporate" researcher in the United States.

After earning a PhD and working as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of particle physics, I jumped into the general corporate world. Even in the general corporate world, I have changed careers from a consultant supporting data utilization for various companies to a fusion energy start-up company, and I really feel that it is very exciting and fun to encounter new worlds and values at any time. In this talk, I will share how what I gained while in school led to my respective careers and what strategies I used to choose my career.

I was wondering whether to go on to a doctoral course and become a researcher or to work on Japan's science and technology policy as an administrative officer. I would like to look back on my thoughts and decisions during my master's program when I was struggling with my career path, and share them with those who are currently struggling with the same path. I would also like to introduce the contents of my work as an administrative officer, which is difficult to imagine, and how the knowledge and experience I gained at the Faculty of Science are still relevant today.
