Associate Professor Takuro Ideguchi Receives The 8th T.HIRUMA PHOTONICS AWARD

Associate Professor Takuro Ideguchi

Associate Professor Takuro Ideguchi of the Institute for Photon Science and Technology, Graduate School of Science, has received The 8th T.HIRUMA PHOTONICS AWARD in Optical Science, presented by Research Foundation for Opto-Science and Technology.

This award honors researchers under the age of 45 who have achieved original and outstanding research accomplishments in the field of optical science in Japan and who have made significant contributions to the advancement of fundamental research and optical science and technology. The award is named after Mr. Teruo Hiruma, former President of Hamamatsu Photonics K.K., who is widely recognized for leading the development of optical sensors and optical measurement technologies and for his long-standing support of fundamental science.

Associate Professor Ideguchi has developed a series of innovative measurement techniques based on advanced laser technologies, including dual-comb spectroscopy, Fourier-transform spectroscopy, time-stretch spectroscopy, and infrared photothermal microscopy. Through these studies, he has enabled high-speed and highly sensitive observation of biological phenomena and intracellular dynamics, earning strong international recognition. In recent years, he has also been actively engaged in collaborative research with industry and technology transfer, and further broad developments from fundamental research to practical applications are highly anticipated.

His achievements are truly deserving of this prestigious award. We extend our heartfelt congratulations on this honor and look forward to his continued success in the years to come.
