The 15th International Conference on Hypernuclear and Strange Particle Physics (HYP2025) Held at the Koshiba Hall, the University of Tokyo

The 15th International Conference on Hypernuclear and Strange Particle Physics (HYP2025) was held at the University of Tokyo (Hongo Campus) from September 29 (Monday) to October 3 (Friday), 2025. The conference was organized by the Quark Nuclear Science Institute (QNSI), Graduate School of Science, the University of Tokyo, with Professor Satoshi N. Nakamura serving as the Chair of the Organizing Committee.

The HYP conference series brings together theoreticians and experimentalists working on hadron processes and nuclear systems containing strangeness, covering a wide range of topics from single-to multi-strangeness systems, and from few-body systems to neutron stars. In recent years, the scope of the conference has expanded to include low-energy aspects of QCD, dense and cold matter, and hadronic and nuclear systems with heavier flavors.

HYP2025 was the fifteenth in this long-running series, which began in 1982 in Heidelberg and has been held every three years, rotating between Japan, Europe, and the United States. The recent conferences took place at JLab, U.S.A. (HYP2003), Mainz, Germany (HYP2006), Tokai, Japan (HYP2009), Barcelona, Spain (HYP2012), Sendai, Japan (HYP2015), Portsmouth-Norfolk, U.S.A. (HYP2018), and Prague, Czech Republic (HYP2022).

HYP2025 attracted 178 participants, including 51 students, and featured 145 presentations. The plenary sessions were held in the Koshiba Hall, while parallel sessions took place in Koshiba Hall and the classrooms 206 and 207 of the Faculty of Science Building No. 1, providing a stimulating environment for active discussions among participants.

A memorial session was also organized to honor the distinguished researchers in strangeness nuclear physics who recently passed away. In particular, Professor Emeritus Ryugo Hayano gave a commemorative talk on the achievements and legacy of Professor Emeritus Toshimitsu Yamazaki, who passed away in January 2025.

At the International Advisory Committee meeting held on the final day, it was decided that the next conference, HYP2028, will be held in Catania, Italy. HYP2025 concluded successfully, reaffirming the strong international collaboration in the field and paving the way for further developments in hypernuclear and strangeness nuclear physics.
