Professor Hiroaki Suga elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science

Hiroaki Suga, Professor
Professor Hiroaki Suga of the Department of Chemistry, Graduate School of Chemistry, has become the first Japanese to be elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.
Professor Suga has been recognized by relevant researchers around the world for his creative research in the interface between life sciences and engineering.
The technology developed by Professor Suga has accelerated basic and applied research into the discovery and mechanism of action of various protein inhibitors and activators, and is now widely used in drug discovery in the pharmaceutical industry both in Japan and abroad due to its unprecedented versatility.
Professor Suga has received the Wolf Prize in 2023, the Japan Academy Prize in 2024, and just recently the Kobe Prize in 2025. We congratulate him on his election as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and wish him continued success in his future endeavors.
