理論をやっている者として、実験機材などと向き合うことはほとんどないが、この間、オーストラリアでの研究会に行って、光汚染のほとんどない郊外で、このような思いがけぬ壮大な光景に遭遇し、ものすごく感動した。 やはり我々は誰しもこのような宇宙の美しさや神秘さに惹かれているからこそ、理学の研究に携わっていると思うので、この写真は理学のイメージを表しているかと考えている。
