Molecular mechanism of neural circuit formation and remodeling

Current Research

During development and reorganization of neuronal wiring, how do neurons recognize their appropriate partners, form and maintain synapses between them? I will answer these questions by studying the mechanisms of the individuality of each neuron generated through diverse cell surface receptors. Furthermore, by understanding neuron's individuality at single cell level, I will develop novel tools which would allow us to manipulate the activities of any neurons, and reveal the neuronal basis for higher order brain functions.
