Second International Conference on the Physics of the Two Infinities Held at Koshiba Hall, The University of Tokyo
The Second International Conference on the Physics of the Two Infinities was held at the Hongo Campus of the University of Tokyo from Monday, November 17 to Friday, November 21, 2025.
The conference was organized by ILANCE Laboratory, an international research center in particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology jointly established by the University of Tokyo and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in April 2021. The meeting was co-chaired by Prof. Michel Gonin, Director of ILANCE, and Prof. Masaya Ishino, Director of the International Center for Elementary Particle Physics (ICEPP). Following the first conference held at Kyoto University in March 2023, this second edition brought together approximately 150 researchers and students from Japan and abroad, fostering active scientific exchange.
A total of 125 presentations were given under the theme of “Physics of the Two Infinities,” which aims to elucidate the fundamental laws of nature through two complementary approaches—the physics of the infinitely small (particle physics) and the physics of the infinitely large (cosmology and astrophysics). The plenary sessions took place at Koshiba Hall, while parallel sessions in Astrophysics & Multi-messenger, Cosmology, Neutrinos, and Particle Physics were held across four lecture rooms in the Faculty of Science Building 1, hosting lively discussions throughout the week.
The conference provided a valuable opportunity for all participants to reaffirm the importance of further strengthening collaborative research and student exchange, with ILANCE serving as the core hub for Japan–France scientific cooperation.
ILANCE’s academic and operational activities are further supported by Prof. Kotaro Kohno who serves on the Executive Committee through the UTokyo Research Center for Education in Astronomy, actively promoting Franco-Japanese academic partnership and advancing bilateral scientific collaboration.
