Recruitment Guidelines for Project Researchers

- 1 Title and Number of Positions
- Project Researcher, 1 position.
- 2 Contract Period
- From the earliest possible date on or after April 1, 2026, until March 31, 2027.
- 3 Contract Renewal
- The appointment may be renewed. If renewed, the renewal will be made on a fiscal-year basis. The number of renewals is limited to two, and the total period of employment shall not exceed March 31, 2029. No further renewal will be made thereafter.
- Renewal will be determined based on the availability of the budget, progress of the assigned duties, workload at the time of contract expiration, work performance, work attitude, and health condition.
- 4 Probationary Period
- Fourteen (14) days from the date of employment.
- 5 Work Location
- Wako Branch, Center for Nuclear Study, Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo (2-1 Hirosawa, Wako, Saitama; inside RIKEN).
- (Scope of change) In principle, within the same bureau.
- 6 Job Description
- The successful candidate will engage in a new project of “Exclusive measurement of aneutronic nuclear reaction” under one of the JST-Moonshot 10 Programs, “Development of High Intensity Neutron Source and Advanced Fusion System by Innovative Acceleration Technology”, collaboration with faculty members of the Center for Nuclear Study (CNS) with their 80% effort, and also in the on-going nuclear physics research using the devices such as OEDO-SHARAQ at RIBF with their remaining effort.
- 7 Working Hours
- Deemed working hours under the discretionary labor system for professional work: 7 hours 45 minutes per day.
- 8 Holidays and Leave
- Weekends, national holidays, and year-end/New Year holidays (Dec. 29 – Jan. 3).
- Annual paid leave and special leave as provided by University regulations.
- 9 Salary and Benefits
- Annual salary system. Monthly salary is approximately JPY 500,000.
- Allowances: Commuting allowance (up to JPY 55,000/month, subject to requirements).
- 10 Social Insurance
- Enrollment in the Mutual Aid Association of MEXT and Employment Insurance, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
- 11 Qualifications
- Applicants must have a doctoral degree at the time of application or be certain to obtain the degree before the start of employment.
