2 Term of employment
Starting as soon as the position is filled and ending on March 31, 2026.
3 Renewal of Contract
Renewal may be possible on a yearly basis. The decision on renewal will be made by considering budget availability, the progress of assigned duties, and work performance. However, the maximum period of employment shall be five years.
4 Probation period

7 Contents of work duties
[1] Promote the development of quantum computing algorithms and related software, as well as the application of quantum algorithms. Additionally, contribute to joint research with private companies.
[2] Promote the development of qubit hardware and related devices, or the research of quantum sensors and their applications. Additionally, contribute to joint research with private companies.
Candidates must be engaged in either (1) or (2).
(Scope of Change) Reassignment, concurrent duties and secondment may be ordered (In principle, they will not be ordered against one’s will. For details, refer to Article 4 of the Employment Regulations of the University of Tokyo for Staff Members.)
8 Working hours
Discretionary work system for professional work applies and working hours will be deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day.
9 Days off and Leave
Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays, and the year-end and New Year holidays (December 29 to January 3)
Annual Paid Leave, Special Leave, etc.
10 Wages, etc.
An annual salary system applies, with a monthly salary of approximately 500,000 to 700,000 JPY, including performance-based bonuses (determined based on qualifications, abilities, and experience). A commuting allowance of up to 55,000 JPY per month is provided if the eligibility requirements are met.
11 Insurance
Candidates will be enrolled in the insurance from the Mutual Aid Association of MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and Employment Insurance as provided by law.
12 Qualification requirements
Persons with Ph. D or equivalent degree are considered to be eligible. Those who are expected to obtain Ph. D by the time of appointment are also considered.
