Opening of Postdoctoral Researchers at the Center for Nuclear Study, University of Tokyo

CNS has several devices in RIBF in RIKEN Nishina Center and pursues the experimental nuclear physics such as nuclear astrophysics and nuclear structure/reaction studies with radioactive isotope beams. We also have branches of fundamental physics with radioactive heavy elements, high-energy nuclear physics, nuclear theory and development of ion sources.

JOB TITLE:
postdoctoral researcher, one position available
FIELD:
Experimental nuclear physics.
The successful candidate will work on experimental nuclear physics with radioactive isotopes mainly by using the decelerating and focusing devices (OEDO) and development of the beam line including OEDO.
ELIGIBILITY:
They must hold a recent Ph.D degree in Experimental nuclear physics
EMPLOYMENT:
One-year fixed-term employment contract. The starting data of the employment is December 1, 2023 (negotiable).
RENEWAL OF CONTRACT:
Your employment agreement may be renewed. In the event of renewal, your employment agreement will be renewed every year.
Renewal of your employment agreement will be determined by the following factors: All relevant factors, such as budget status, progress of the work assigned to you, the amount of the work at the end of the term, your performance, work record, and attitude, and/or your medical conditions.
PROBATION PERIOD:
14 days from the date of employment

WORKING HOURS:
Discretionary work system for professional work applies and working hours will be deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day.
DAYS OFF AND LEAVE:
Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays, and the year-end and New Year holidays (December 29 to January 3) Annual Paid Leave, Special Leave, etc.
WAGES ETC:
~ 300,000 yen/month (gross).
Basic Salary will be decided taking your academic background, professional career, etc.
Commuting allowance (up to 55,000 per month if the payment conditions are satisfied), and other allowances decided by the University.
INSURACE:
You will be enrolled in the insurance from the Mutual Aid Association of MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and Employment Insurance by being provided for in the law.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate is expected to have experience of nuclear physics experiments, instrumentation and detector development. The candidate is also expected to have knowledge of ROOT and GEANT4 analysis are expected.

After initial screening with the application form, interviews will be arranged in the end of Nov. Interviews will take place at Wako and consist of a presentation. of the research achievements and plans followed by an interview. For applicants from abroad, the interview will be conducted via Zoom.
