Employment term is 5 years.
The first 3 years is defined as a tenure track period. The review and judgement for this period about assigned work progress, achievement, as well as attitudes in research etc. will be executed. The term of the employment will be removed and the position will become permanent if the review is successful.

7 Contents of work duties
Overview:
The ICEPP, UTokyo participates in the research and development of quantum computing technologies, as well as education of quantum information science for future generations. In particular, the ICEPP contributes to the UTokyo’s Quantum Innovation Initiatives, aiming to build up a Quantum Computing Eco-system to bring innovations to science and technology.
Role of the Appointee:
The successful candidates are expected to work closely with members of the ICEPP computing group and play a major role in the research and education within the Quantum Innovation Initiatives at UTokyo. The education includes teaching in the interdisciplinary course between Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, and Department of Physics, Graduate School of Science in UTokyo. Appointee can choose either hardware or software for the lecture in the interdisciplinary course.
Appointee’s role in the research and education includes:
  • Quantum computing education, either hardware or software, for students in Undergraduate and Graduate Schools under the UTokyo Q-Native Education program.
  • Either “development of IBM Quantum-related hardware and associated technologies, as well as development of quantum sensors and their applications” or “researches in algorithms and software for practical use of quantum computers”. The research includes collaborative work with companies if the work is considered appropriate.
  • Developments of quantum technologies in international collaborations which ICEPP participates in.
8 Working hours
Discretionary work system for professional work applies and working hours will be deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day.
9 Days off and Leave
Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays, and the year-end and New Year holidays (December 29 to January 3)
Annual Paid Leave, Special Leave, etc.

Basic Salary will be decided taking your academic background, professional career, etc.
  • Annual salary system is adopted, and appointee will be paid about 600K JPY per month including performance-based bonus.
  • Commuting allowance (up to 55K JPY per month if the payment conditions are satisfied), and other allowances decided by the University.
11 Insurance
You will be enrolled in the insurance from the Mutual Aid Association of MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and Employment Insurance by being provided for in the law.
12 Qualification requirements
Persons with Ph. D or equivalent degree are considered to be eligible. Those who are expected to obtain Ph. D by the time of appointment are also considered.
