7 Job description
You will work closely with staff in the School of Science to create and implement an international public relations strategy that aims to clearly communicate the activities and research results of the school to a broad international audience. The work will include:
  • Developing a public relations strategy aimed at all international stakeholders of the School of Science, including prospective international students and their families, and companies and research institutes based overseas.
  • Planning and implementing the dissemination of the School of Science's research results to the international media, news release services (e.g., EurekAlert, AlphaGalileo), and the general public through press releases, online articles, and social media content.
  • Writing and editing press releases, online news articles, and interview articles in English.
  • Organizing workshops and events to strengthen science communication activities across the School of Science.
  • Contributing to the further development of the School of Science's global strategy, including cultivation of an internationally minded office environment.
  • Other work related to international public relations.
8 Working days & hours
Monday to Friday, 5 days a week (7 hours 45 minutes per day)
Working hours are from 9:00 to 17:30, with a break from 12:00 to 12:45.
9 Non-working days
Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, Year-end & New Year holidays (December 29th - January 3rd), annual paid leave, and special paid leave
10 Salary & benefits
Salary will be based on UTokyo's annual salary system and determined according to the applicant's qualifications, abilities, and experience. Commuting allowance (max. 55,000 JPY/month, provided that the necessary requirements are met) and overtime allowance are provided in addition to salary.

Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Mutual Aid Association, Employment Insurance (as required by law)
12 Qualifications
(1) Bachelor's degree or higher (degrees in communication, journalism, science, or related fields are preferred), and/or experience in the work mentioned in the job description above.
(2) English language ability: Native or equivalent.
(3) Japanese language ability: JLPT N2 or above is preferred.
(4) Experience in international public relations at a higher education institution or other scientific institution. Experience in writing or editing English press releases or scientific news articles for the general public is particularly desirable.
(5) Experience of website development or editing is preferred. Please mention the software that you are able to use in your application.
(6) Excellent communication skills and willingness to contribute to the development of a new international public relations strategy.
(7) Ability to work as part of a team.
