Neuronal mechanisms of fear
Current Research
Fear orchestrates behavioral/ cognitive/ physiological changes to achieve optimal responses to threat. Studies in mammalian models have partially revealed the neuronal mechanism underlying fear behaviors, but the neuronal mechanisms that orchestrate behavioral/ cognitive/ physiological changes remain a mystery. I discovered that the fruit fly Drosophila, which possesses much simpler brain than mammals, also shows behavioral/ cognitive/ physiological responses to threat. I am actively investigating the neuronal mechanism that orchestrate these changes by taking advantage of powerful genetic toolboxes.
