Research Subject
Systems biology analysis of neuronal network that controls behavior of C. elegans
Current Research
I am studying about mechanisms of information processing in neuronal network of nematode, Caenorhabditis elegans. C. elegans shows chemotaxis to water-soluble chemoattractants, such as NaCl. They sense local environment of the chemicals and change their behavior depending on direction of chemical gradient. I measure neuronal activities of the nematode by live imaging under various stimulation conditions and make a mathematical model that can be reproduce the experimental data. I want to find mechanisms of neuronal information processing that convert environmental information to animal's behavior through systems biology analysis of the data and the model.
