Current Research
Recent advances in technology are allowing us to not only profile living systems at an unprecedent level of detail, but also to intervene in them in highly specific ways using methods like mRNA vaccines and CRISPR genome editing. We may be arriving at a time when our ability to treat diseases is limited by our understanding of the mechanisms to a far greater extent than by any technical constraints. As part of my research, I develop improved approaches to characterize and model these mechanisms using AI systems, and ultimately use them to solve the problems of diagnostics, therapy optimization and personalized medicine. Areas of potential applications I work on are improving our understanding of complex human diseases, AI-driven analysis of high-dimensional biomedical datasets (NGS, multi-omics, spatial transcriptomics) and development of novel approaches for cancer immunology.
