Research Field
Physical Oceanography, Global Overturning Circulation
Research Subject
Investigation of (1) physics behind global overturning circulation with observation data and (2) relationship between turbulence in microscales and ocean circulation in basin scales
Current Research
Ocean is turbulent. It is an open system which interacts with the atmosphere on top and bottom topography underneath. Ocean is filled with transient eddies with typical time scales of months to years. By looking into observational data, we aim at describing and understanding this transient, nonlinear, and open system where laboratory experiments are difficult.
