Research Subject
Immune responses which determine organ regenerative ability in vertebrate
Current Research
Regenerative ability varies depending on the animal species, organ, and developmental stages, but the reason for the variable regenerative ability is unclear. We previously showed that suppression of the immune response potentiates Xenopus laevis tadpole tail regeneration during the refractory period, and indicated that immune responses play crucial roles in determining the regenerative ability. Now we are studying molecular/cellular mechanisms of the immune responses.
