Research Subject

Molecular Mechanisms of Dedifferentiation, Organ Regeneration and Autonomous Pattern Formation in Plants

Current Research

Through the genetic and physiological analyses using temperature-sensitive mutants and tissue culture of model plants, I have been working on the molecular identification of elementary mechanisms that function in plant dedifferentiation and organ regeneration. One of my particular interests is the relationship between RNA processing and competence for cell proliferation and meristem formation. My research also aims to understand the fundamentals of autonomous pattern formation, which can be seen in organ regeneration, on the basis of the intercellular orchestration in cell proliferation control and the mathematical modeling of organ development.
