私はなぜ科学者になったのか

2024年度大学院科目 “Scientific Writing, Publication, and Communication”(FoPMコースワーク)学生エッセイ
基礎科学の研究は、科学や社会の未来を変革する可能性を秘めており、時には当初の研究者が思いもよらないような形で成果を上げることもあります。基礎科学の貢献がなければ、mRNAワクチンも、レーザー眼科手術も、電子レンジさえもなかったでしょう。同じように、生体分子の構造の可視化も、量子コンピューターの発展も、宇宙探査の興奮を知ることもできませんでした。
本コースでは、東京大学の理工大学院学生が、中学生に科学と、科学が世界に与える可能性を感じてもらうように、エッセイを作成しました。画期的なオープンサイエンスの相互評価プロセスを通じて、担当教員のKate HarrisシニアURAとMark Vagins教授の指導により、エッセイはより洗練されたものとなっています。ぜひ、楽しんで彼らの作品を探索してみてください。
