[Event Report] UTokyo Open Campus 2016

The University of Tokyo held its Open Campus event on Wednesday, August 3rd and Thursday, August 4th, 2016. Over 20,000 high school students interested in attending the university traveled from all across Japan (and even overseas!) to Hongo campus to find out more about UTokyo.

Alongside other faculties at the university, the School of Science held a variety of events for prospective students, such as talks, sample lectures, information booths, experiment demonstrations, and lab tours. Visitors also had the chance to see a brand new addition to the Science Gallery in the School of Science Building 1, consisting of a display honoring Professor Takaaki Kajita’s Nobel Prize winning research on neutrinos oscillations.

Notably, the Global Science Course (GSC) held an information booth for the first time at this year’s Open Campus. We were pleased with the amount of interest in the all-English science program by both Japanese and international students. We would like to thank everyone who came to our booth to learn more about GSC and look forward to many of them joining the program in the near future.
