Sakura Exchange Program in Science is organized by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

The University of Tokyo welcomed 110 students over the span of three days on July 25th, July 29th and August 4th. The students who were selected for their outstanding academic achievement came from senior high schools in China, Vietnam and Indonesia.

GSC Administration Office staffs had the opportunity to give a presentation regarding the program. Most of the students are approaching the end of the senior high school life and are seriously considering various undergraduate study options. Even though GSC is a transfer program for university students, the high school students were interested to know more about the program and expressed their interest in enrolling to the program in the future.

NHK TV Broadcast filming crew were present to document the first day of events. A week later, it was broadcasted under the nightly news report which also featured a short interview with Professor Yamanouchi, which is the Vice Dean of the School of Science as well as the Global Science Course coordinator.
