A Global COE seminar by Professor Ulrik Andersen (DTU) to be held on Oct. 17th.
A Global COE seminar entitled "To squeeze or not to squeeze, that is the question" by Professor Ulrik L. Andersen, Technical University of Denmark, will take place as follows;
Date and Time | 13:30 on Wednesday, Oct. 17th |
---|---|
Venue | Room No. 352, 3F, Faculty of Engineering Bldg. 6 |
Professor Ulrik Andersen is a young researcher who is well known for his study of quantum information processing in quantum optics. The participation of ALPS course students in this seminar co-sponsored by the ALPS program is highly encouraged.
Abstract:
In this talk I will review recent experiments on continuous variable quantum information processing and quantum sensing in our laboratories. In particular, I will be comparing protocols that are based either on coherent states or squeezed states of light, and thereby asking the question; Do we gain anything by using squeezed light? e.g. I will show that the performance of quantum key distribution can be increased by using squeezed light. On the contrary, I will show that coherent states are sufficient to produce phase super-resolution.
