Admission process and announcements for the academic year of 2017

For students in their first year of the Master's program:

(1) Documentary screening (to take place in early July 2017)
  • Each department will evaluate the applicants on the basis of their application documents (Applicant Information, Research Proposal, Essay, Research Background, and Supervisor's Letter of Opinion), their graduate school admission examination scores, and the ALPS committee of academic affairs will make the selection based on the results.
  • Selection results will be announced on the 28th of August 2017.
  • Those who have been selected as new ALPS course students will receive their first grant for the month of September 2017.
(2) Qualifying examination (to take place in early March 2018)
  • Each department will give a Qualifying Examination to their ALPS course students, who have passed the documentary screening (1) and the ALPS committee of academic affairs will make the selection based on the results. The detailed information will be announced in mid-January 2018.
  • Selection results will be announced in late March 2018. (Note 1)
Note 1: Those who are selected to remain in the ALPS course will be obligated to apply for DC1 in the JSPS Research Fellowship for Young Scientists in the coming May.
