我々は地球磁気圏と太陽風との相互作用については多くを理解しているが、他の惑星と太陽風との相互作用については理解の途上にある。これは、地球か遠く離れた惑星においては、その場観測の機会が限られるため情報量が少ないからである。地球磁気圏で得られた知見を下に、少ないデータからこれらの相互作用を理解する事を試みる。

We understand the interaction between terrestrial magnetosphere and the solar wind very well, but our knowledge is limited about the interaction of other planets and solar wind. This is because we have limited information as the chance of the in-situ observation is small. In this lecture we look into the data from probes to the planets and compare them with the data in the terrestrial magnetosphere and try to reach better understanding of them.
