Research on Atmospheres and Plasmas of Terrestrial Planets
We are trying to understand long- and short-term variations of planetary atmospheres by using our newly developed instruments. For example, on Mars there should be a large amount of water, that needs warm environment produced by CO2 atmosphere. How did CO2 disappear? In the near future, we will have observed by orbiter. On Mercury, we have not understood the operative mechanism for sodium atmosphere creation. In 2014, we will launch the satellite to have the answer for it. In 2013, we will launch the earth-orbiting satellite for planetary telescope (EXCEED), that devotes to terrestrial planets.
