Isotope Geochemistry
Research Subject
Geochemical study of the origin and history of volcanic product using rare noble gas isotopes
Current Research
Using high-sensitivity and high-accuracy noble gas mass spectrometry, I work to clarify the origin and history of volcanic rocks, volcanic gas and mantle-derived materials (mantle xenoliths). My research aims to understand mantle dynamics of the Earth and the circulation of volatile elements in the Earth’s interior. In particular, I have been working on the origin of southwest Japan hotspot areas. I am also working on the production of new ion source to achieve further ultrahigh-sensitivity of mass spectrometer and on technology developments such as an attempt of laser-microprobe noble gas analysis.
