The studies of solar interior and of stellar interior using oscillations, called helio- and asteroseismology
Current Research
In recent years, pulsations and oscillation-related phenomena have been discovered in many stars of various types, including our sun itself, that were regarded as non-pulsating stars before. Particularly, the detailed observations of solar oscillations provide us with accurate frequencies of a large number of solar eigenmodes. The same becomes true even in the case of distant stars. I am doing research of probing the invisible interior of the sun and stars, which is now called helio- and asteroseismology, by using these oscillation data.
