Research Subject
Observational and theoretical studies of interstellar matter and dust grains in our Galaxy and galaxies
Current Research
Interstellar gas and dust grains play an important role in the physical conditions of the interstellar medium and make significant effects on the material evolution in the Universe. They also dominate in the infrared, whose observations are indispensable for the study of distant galaxies. We are carrying out investigations on the properties and evolution of interstellar matter to give an insight into the physical conditions of distant galaxies. For these investigations we also have projects to develop telescope mirrors for space missions as well as infrared instruments to be on board satellites and Subaru telescope.
