Research Subject
Research on Cosmic and Terrestrial Materials Using Noble Gas Isotopes
Current Research
In our group, the following researches are being conducted based on the measurement of noble gas isotopes existing in various meteorites, cosmic dust particles, and volcanic rocks and gases by using highly sensitive mass spectrometers. 1) Clarification of formation processes and histories of meteorite parent bodies in the early solar system 2) Analyzing system maintenance for asteroidal samples to be returned by spacecraft 3) Investigation of geochemical behaviors of volatile elements and evaluation of volcanic activity using mantle-derived rocks and volcanic gas samples 4) Development of mass spectrometry systems for Ar-Ar and I-Xe age measurement and helium analysis
