Design and synthesis of fullerene derivatives for photo-current conversion materials, and development of organic photovoltaic cells

Current Research

Organic thin-film solar cells are currently attracting attention in the world since they are expected to be a renewable energy source in the face of increasingly serious global environmental and energy problems. In this laboratory, we are promoting industry-university joint research (with Mitsubishi Chemical Co.) that involves synthetic chemistry of photo-current conversion materials, systematic fundamental studies on photoelectronic functions of molecules and molecular assemblies, and development of highly efficient organic photovoltaic cells. These research takes place in the interdisciplinary field between organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry.
