Analysis of the Molecular basis of Insect (Honeybee) Sociality, and Molecular Basis of Animal Organ Regeneration
Current Research
To analyze the molecular bases that underlie highly advanced behaviors such as the ‘dance communication’ as well as various social behaviors of the honeybee (Apis mellifera L.), we are working on the identification and functional analysis of genes that are expressed in honeybee brain in a brain area-preferential and/or a behavior-dependent manner (‘Molecular dissection’ of the honeybee brain). We are also working on the identification and analysis of genes that are expressed preferentially in regenerating tails of the Xenopus laevis tadpoles to analyze the molecular mechanisms of animal organ regeneration. My research aims to reveal the universal rules hiding in various life phenomena as well as the mechanisms of the evolution of diversity.
