Molecular mechanism of visual and non-visual photoreception in vertebrates
Current Research
Vertebrates perceive ambient light information with their visual and non-visual photoreceptor systems. The goal of my current research is to understand the molecular mechanisms of 1) dark and light adaptation of retinal rod photoreceptors, 2) difference in photoresponse between the retinal rods and cones photoreceptors, and 3) non-visual photoreception by non-rod non-cone photoreceptors present in the retina and in the brain.
