Research Field

Earth and Planetary Atmospheric Physical Chemistry

Research Subject

Observational Study on Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics of Earth and Planets based on Spectroscopic Method

Current Research

Planet-C, the Japanese Venus Mission, is planned to be inserted to the Venus orbit in 2010. It aims at observing the dynamical parameters by imaging the clouds at various wavelengths (that is, various altitudes). The goal of the project is to clarify the formation mechanisms of “atmospheric super-rotation”, which has been a mystery over the years. I am in charge of a 1 m camera among the 5 cameras for the project. In addition, I also measure the atmospheric composition and airglow of Venus by ground-based spectroscopic method.
