Research Field
Physical geography, Geomorphology
Research Subject
Quaternary crustal movements, Active tectonics, Geomorphic evolution of large-scale landforms
Current Research
My research interest is in understanding the mechanism of crustal deformation and geomorphic evolution in recent geologic time mainly on the basis of field observations. Ongoing research projects include (1) seismic reflection and gravity surveys across active faults and (2) geomorphological studies of surface deformation over the northeast Japan arc. The principal goal of these projects is to quantitatively clarify the process of strain buildup and release in the northeast Japan arc.
Keywords
crustal movement, active faults, tectonic landforms
