Research Field
Low Temperature Physics
Research Subject
Experiments on Quantum Fluids and Solids and on Low Dimensional Electronic Systems at Ultra-low Temperatures
Current Research
My main interests are in quantum properties of liquid and solid helium which are ideal model systems for interacting Fermions and Bosons. Currently, I am studying novel quantum many-body phenomena such as the spin liquid state and the supersolid state in monatomic helium films by means of specific heat and NMR measurements at ultra-low temperatures near absolute zero. Furthermore, I am investigating electronic properties, such as the quantum Hall effect, in graphene (monatomic sheet of carbon), graphite surfaces and anisotropic superconductors at low temperatures and high magnetic fields with the scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy.
