Current Research
By using the characteristics of sea urchin embryo as a model animal of genesis, I am working on a genetic network that controls morphogenesis. I am also working to understand the evolutionary mechanism by comparing echinoderms that have the oldest origin of all the deuterostomes with body plans of other species at the genetic information level. Furthermore, my research interests include the extracellular matrix function in morphogenesis as well as the nuclear matrix involved in gene expression regulation/DNA replication of eukaryotes, for which mammals such as mouse and human beings are studied.
