Science Gallery

 

The Science Gallery is open to the public and contains exhibits related to the School of Science. Included are displays honoring two of our Nobel Laureates, Special University Professor Emeritus Masatoshi Koshiba and his former student, Special University Professor Takaaki Kajita, as well as artwork and items that provide an overview of the School and its history.

Exhibits

Panel on the School of Science

Using units of length, this panel illustrates the range of research undertaken in our undergraduate and graduate departments, from the microscopic world of elementary particles to the distribution of galaxies in the vast expanse of space.

Nobel Laureate Displays

Photo-Multiplier Tube

The Super-Kamiokande uses about 11,000 of these photo-multiplier tubes to detect neutrinos.

Special Exhibits

Artwork

Entitled "Big Bang and the Recombination Epoch", this artwork depicts the expansion and evolution of the universe and was donated by the artist to the School of Science in 2011.
